Introduction
Renewable Energy Test Station (RETS) is an autonomous body governed by “RENEWABLE ENERGY TEST STATION RULES 2063” framed under clause 31 of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Act 2048. It is linked to the Nepalese government through the umbrella of NAST. Previously, it was known as Solar Energy Test Station (SETS). It is located inside the premises of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Khumaltar, Lalitpur. It was formally established in July 2001 through the collaboration of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), the Energy Sector Assistance Program (ESAP), the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM), and the Solar Electric Manufacturers Association of Nepal (SEMAN).
RETS has been providing quality testing services for different solar PV components (Solar module, Charge Controller, Battery, Lamp, Street Lamp, Inverter), AC components (Lamp, Street Lamp, grid-connected inverter, Induction Stove, Infrared Stove), Solar Thermal Components (Solar Dryer, Solar Cooker, Solar Water Heater), Bio Gas Stoves, and Improved Cooking stoves (ICS).
RETS has also been providing field testing/verification of Solar Home Systems, Grid-connected systems, Biogas and Improved cooking stoves, Induction and Infrared Stoves, AC street Lights, and DC street Lights installed in different geographical locations of the country.
